FAQ

Which ATLAS insole is right for me?

That depends on your needs: the ATLAS THERMO protects against the cold, whilst the ATLAS ERGO-MED provides targeted support depending on your foot type (normal, flat feet or high arches), the ATLAS ERGO COMFORT and ERGO PRO offer extra cushioning for long shifts, and the bespoke insoles from GetSteps are the solution for persistent foot problems. You’ll find an overview above in our insole guide.

What do the colours blue, green and red mean on the ATLAS ERGO-MED?

The colours indicate which foot type the insole is designed for: blue for a normal foot shape, green for a flat foot (where the arch of the foot drops noticeably when weight is applied) and red for a high-arched foot.

What is the difference between orthopaedic insoles and standard insoles?

Standard insoles are designed to enhance general comfort, for example by providing cushioning or improving foot ventilation. Orthopaedic insoles, on the other hand, are custom-made to correct foot misalignments or provide support for medical conditions such as flat feet or splay feet.

What is the difference between ERGO COMFORT and ERGO PRO?

The ERGO COMFORT features memory foam padding and a rebound pad in the forefoot for a powerful push-off. The ERGO PRO builds on this and adds extra foam cushioning for maximum comfort across the entire sole.

How do GetSteps’ bespoke insoles work?

You order a mould kit, take a mould of your foot at home and send it back. GetSteps then uses it to manufacture a 100 per cent bespoke insole in Germany, featuring a stabilising core made of carbon and glass fibre.

How long a day should you wear orthopaedic insoles?

There is no set wearing time – it is important to get used to them gradually. To begin with, wear the insoles for just a few hours a day (for example, a maximum of 2 hours a day for the first one to two weeks) so that your foot can get used to the new support. After that, gradually increase the time you wear them until you can wear the insoles all day – the entire settling-in period can take up to three weeks. If you continue to experience discomfort in your feet, knees, back or hips beyond this, it is best to discuss this with your doctor or orthopaedic shoemaker.

Are orthopaedic insoles really worth it?

Yes – orthopaedic insoles are beneficial for many foot-related complaints. Ready-made insoles, such as our ATLAS ERGO-MED range, cater for typical foot shapes (normal, flat feet, high arches), provide noticeable support and are significantly cheaper than bespoke insoles. As a general rule, orthopaedic insoles are recommended to relieve foot pain, improve foot posture and promote general foot health, or to specifically address certain foot problems. In the case of persistent symptoms or specific requirements, a 100% bespoke insole – such as those from GetSteps – is often the better choice, as it is tailored precisely to the shape of your foot and your shoe style.

Do the insoles meet the standards for safety footwear?

The ATLAS ERGO-MED range meets the requirements of EN ISO 20345 for insoles. Our customer service team will be happy to advise you on whether a particular insole is suitable for your safety footwear model – via our Help & Contact page or by telephone on +49 231 989 43996 (Mon–Fri 9.00 am–12.00 pm).
