A GORE-TEX® membrane features 1.4 billion microscopically small pores. These pores are 20,000 times smaller than a drop of water, yet larger than a water vapour molecule. This makes the GORE-TEX® membrane completely waterproof from the outside and prevents any moisture from getting through. However, sweat can escape unhindered from the inside to the outside in the form of water vapour.
