Buying safety boots: The ultimate guide to ankle-high work boots
Ankle-high safety boots are far more than just higher-cut work shoes – they are your indispensable partner in demanding working conditions. Whilst conventional low-cut shoes have their place, safety boots offer that crucial extra in terms of stability, protection and comfort, which makes all the difference in many professions. In this comprehensive guide, we’ll show you why ankle-high models are considered the pinnacle of safety footwear and how to find the perfect pair to suit your needs.
At ATLAS, you’ll find over 30 different ankle-high safety boot models – from the robust ANATOMIC BAU range for the toughest construction site conditions to the innovative XT EXTRAGUARD® range featuring GORE-TEX® technology. Discover which protection class is best for you, why the BOA® Fit System represents the future of work footwear, and how modern materials such as CORDURA® extend the lifespan of your safety boots.
Why ankle-high safety boots?
Ankle-high safety boots offer a key advantage over low-cut shoes: they stabilise and protect the sensitive ankle area from injury. Particularly on uneven ground, on building sites or when working with heavy machinery, they significantly minimise the risk of twisting an ankle.

Weather-resistant features:
- Waterproof construction with sealed seams

How can I find out my shoe size for Atlas safety shoes?
You can determine the right size for your Atlas safety shoes quickly and easily – either directly via the Atlas ‘Scan your Feet’ app or by measuring your feet manually. Both methods ensure that you find the perfect fit for maximum comfort and protection. You can find further information in our size guide.
How can I find out the width of my Atlas shoes?
The best way to determine the ideal width for your Atlas safety shoes is using the Mondopoint method. This internationally recognised measurement method takes into account not only the length but also the width of the foot to ensure the best possible fit.
To determine the correct width, the circumference of the foot is measured at the widest point of the ball of the foot. Based on these measurements, the appropriate shoe width can then be determined using the Mondopoint system.
