Important

OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100

"The 'Textiles Vertrauen' label stands for the OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100. This is an independent testing and certification system for raw, intermediate and finished textile products. The tests for harmful substances cover substances that are prohibited by law, regulated or known to be harmful to health. Every item of clothing from HAKRO bears this quality mark."

FAIRTRADE COTTON

The programme focuses primarily on the people at the start of the textile value chain: the farmers who grow and harvest the cotton. This opens up fair trading conditions for them, as well as new avenues for social change and greater environmental protection. In order to meet Fairtrade standards and become certified, smallholders must fulfil a number of requirements. They must comply with environmental and social standards and ensure health and safety in cotton production. In return, they receive premiums which, following a democratic vote, can be used for community projects.
